Security Officer Full Time X Ray Screening

About The Position

As a Security Officer in an educational setting in Lexington, Kentucky, you will help maintain a welcoming and secure environment. You will screen individuals and belongings, operate screening equipment, respond to security-related concerns, provide customer service, communicate professionally with students, staff, and visitors, and maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents. This is a full-time position paying $19.00 per hour. The stated schedule is 6:00 AM–2:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Requirements

At least one year of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing may be required before employment, depending on state and/or local laws and regulations.

Nice To Haves

Comfort using a computer or tablet.
X-ray screening experience.

Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors while carrying out site-specific procedures and applicable emergency response activities.
Screen individuals, bags, packages, and belongings according to established campus access procedures and applicable policies.
Monitor entry points and access-control areas, verify authorized access when required, and report unusual or prohibited items or activity to appropriate personnel.
Respond calmly to incidents and critical situations, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas and perimeter locations as directed; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
