Security Officer Warehouse Area Access Authorization
About The Position
As a Security Officer at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location in Melville, New York, you will safeguard clients by managing access control, verifying credentials, monitoring entry points, and maintaining accurate visitor and badge records. You will provide customer service to employees, visitors, and drivers, communicate clearly, and help deter incidents through a visible, professional presence. The role calls for integrity, teamwork, reliability, and an agile approach to supporting daily operations. This is a part-time position with scheduled shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The pay rate is $18.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; armed roles require applicants to be at least 21.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment, in accordance with applicable laws.
- Submit to a drug screen as a condition of employment, to the extent permitted by law.
- Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Access control and badge experience is preferred.
- Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, visitors, drivers, and employees by following security procedures and site-specific policies, and participating in emergency response activities when appropriate.
- Monitor access points, verify credentials, process visitor and driver entry, and maintain access-control logs in accordance with site procedures.
- Help manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic at gates, docks, and designated entry areas according to established protocols.
- Respond calmly to incidents, access concerns, and critical situations, escalating issues to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility, warehouse areas, parking locations, loading docks, and perimeter to deter unauthorized access and report unusual conditions.
