As a Part-Time Security Officer in South Orange, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using the Claim a Shift platform. You will join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a dynamic campus location, monitoring assigned areas, conducting routine patrols, and helping to discourage security-related incidents through a visible presence. This position blends customer service and communication with a caring, team-oriented culture built on reliability, agility, innovation, and integrity, offering a rewarding opportunity to support students, staff, and visitors each day.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Access control or badge experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities across an educational location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and communicate relevant information to campus contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to identify unusual activity and/or maintenance or access concerns.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access, policy violations, and/or disruptive behavior.
  • Prepare accurate reports of daily activities, incidents, and/or observations, and assist with directions and general assistance for students, staff, and visitors.
