As a Part-Time Security Officer in South Orange, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule that works for you and explore new roles using the Claim a Shift platform. You will join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a dynamic campus location, monitoring assigned areas, conducting routine patrols, and helping to discourage security-related incidents through a visible presence. This position blends customer service and communication with a caring, team-oriented culture built on reliability, agility, innovation, and integrity, offering a rewarding opportunity to support students, staff, and visitors each day.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

Alarm panel experience is preferred.
A guard card or license is preferred.
Access control or badge experience is preferred.
Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or appropriate emergency response activities across an educational location.
Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and communicate relevant information to campus contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, walkways, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to identify unusual activity and/or maintenance or access concerns.
Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to help to deter unauthorized access, policy violations, and/or disruptive behavior.
Prepare accurate reports of daily activities, incidents, and/or observations, and assist with directions and general assistance for students, staff, and visitors.
