About The Position

The Security Guard executes processes at the ADESA facility to help protect team members, customers, and assets. Reporting to the Operations Manager or designated manager (or the Inspections Manager, as applicable), this person is the face of ADESA at the gates, follows inventory control procedures, uses ADESA technology, and supports vehicle-location research when needed. The position is hourly and may involve various shifts and weekends. The listed full-time schedule is subject to change based on business needs, and open availability is highly preferred: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 5 p.m.–1 a.m.; Friday, 1 p.m.–7 a.m.; and Saturday, 5 p.m.–1 a.m. Starting pay is $16 per hour. The role requires customer service at facility gates, monitoring and securing the premises, checking vehicle authorization, and responding appropriately to safety or security concerns.

Requirements

One to two years of experience in a customer service environment.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Ability to relate well with others and establish strong working relationships.
Ability to handle conflict situations positively.
Ability to accurately enter data on a handheld device or computer.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Computer data-entry skills.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license that meets requirements.
Ability to safely drive vehicles of various makes, models, and sizes.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must pass a complete background check.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Secure gates and buildings and patrol the premises.
Sound alarms and notify authorities in emergencies.
Verify that only authorized individuals enter the property.
Provide facility directions to customers, vendors, and transporters.
Check gate passes to ensure departing vehicles are authorized to leave the property.
Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property.
Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt, courteous service.
Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner and de-escalate difficult situations.
Watch for and report irregularities, including fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unsecured doors.
Account for and identify keys, codes, and other safety and security information.
Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers.
Maintain equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers, in good operating condition.
Notify management of breakdowns and maintenance needs.
Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment.
Practice and promote teamwork, set a positive example in attitude and performance, and communicate with auction team members and leaders.
Perform other duties assigned by the designated manager.
