About The Position

Harvard Protection Services is hiring a Security Guard to provide professional, customer-focused security and life-safety services for the people and property they protect. The role involves maintaining a visible security presence, monitoring the facility for suspicious or unsafe activity, supporting visitors and occupants, enforcing facility procedures, and responding to alarms and emergencies. Duties may differ depending on the assigned customer location.

Requirements

State- or municipality-mandated security officer licenses.
At least a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must have a security guard license or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
Reliable means of communication and transportation.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Neat and professional appearance.
Ability to write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reports.
A driver's license is required, as stated in the job title.

Nice To Haves

Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain a professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
Maintain a visible presence in the assigned facility or building.
Monitor the environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
Become familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic and recognize customers, tenants, visitors, and guests.
Greet customers, visitors, staff, tenants, and guests professionally.
Answer phones professionally.
Permit authorized persons to enter the property and monitor entrances and exits.
Know and enforce facility or building policies and procedures within the limits of the position.
Perform required patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
Observe departing personnel to deter theft of company property and ensure authorized property removal follows customer requirements.
Follow established emergency action plans and procedures.
Monitor alarms and systems.
Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities as directed.
