About The Position
Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Security Guard in Astoria, New York, at a government operations location. The unarmed patrol officer will safeguard the site by maintaining a visible presence, monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, supporting access control, and assisting visitors and staff. The role requires professional customer service, strong communication, integrity, and teamwork. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM. The pay rate is $18.87 per hour. Applicants must have a valid New York State Security Guard License, at least one year of security-related experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Employment is conditional on a background investigation and, to the extent permitted by law, a drug screen.
Requirements
- Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
- Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Submit to a background investigation as a condition of employment.
- Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and members of the public while following security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, grounds, vehicle areas, access points, and perimeter areas to identify and report unusual conditions or unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access to restricted areas, verify authorization as directed, and remain aware of vehicle and pedestrian activity at assigned posts.
- Respond calmly to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations; notify appropriate site contacts or emergency responders as directed.
- Prepare clear, accurate reports and shift documentation concerning patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related activities.
