About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a Security Professional Flex Officer to safeguard clients and property, including work at a warehouse in Detroit. Officers may serve across a range of industries and use the company’s shift-pickup platform to view and claim available shifts based on their availability. The role offers experience at different sites and may involve irregular shifts with little to no advance notice. Applicants should be available for afternoon or midnight shifts and able to work weekends and holidays. The job requires standing and walking for long periods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or five years of verifiable experience.
• Meet applicable state or local licensing requirements, which may be required before employment.
• Valid driver’s license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle.
• Be at least 18 years old, or older if required by the state; 21 years old if armed.
• Reliability and ability to adapt to different post assignments.
• Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors.
• Demonstrated ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and accurately.
• Active listening and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to assess and evaluate situations and identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
• Ability to mediate conflict with tact and diplomacy.
• Teamwork and attention to detail.
• Applicants are subject to a background investigation and drug screen, as permitted by law.
• Availability for afternoon or midnight shifts and weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Arabic.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in a vehicle.
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or call police or fire departments in the event of a fire or unauthorized persons.
• Warn violators about rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure authorized removals follow client requirements.
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post.
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Make emergency notifications as necessary under site Post Orders.
