Requirements

  • Prior security related experience.
  • One year in grade as a Commerce Casino Security Officer.
  • High School Diploma.
  • All current guard cards including power to arrest, weapon permit, baton permit, CPR and first aid permit.
  • A casino work permit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English language.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Current California driver’s license.
  • Must complete continuing education and training during employment at a minimum of twice per year.
  • Must demonstrate positive/enthusiastic approach to all assignments.
  • Outstanding attendance/punctuality.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight and make educated ethical decisions as necessary.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and have effective communication skills with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently.
  • Prepare detailed professional correspondence, memoranda, policies, procedures as well as regulations related to the employee’s duties.
  • General knowledge of the Windows based computer operating systems.

Nice To Haves

  • The Corporal is responsible for overseeing the security department processes. Regarding the supervision of employees, however, this position is limited to making suggestions or recommendations regarding the staff to the Security Director, who holds a Key Employee or Officer License. The Security Director is the position that makes managerial decisions on behalf of security department. The Corporal understands and acknowledges he/she cannot take any action that would require a Key Employee license.

Responsibilities

  • Act as lead Security Officer on his/her assigned shift.
  • Observe overall casino activity and report back to the administrator.
  • Complete reports of irregularities.
  • Ensure that established policies and procedures pertaining to safety and security are carried out in emergency evacuations.
  • Physically detain or arrest a patron or employee.
  • Investigate accidents, thefts and disturbances.
  • Testify in court if needed.
  • Provide escort services to employees in confined areas.
  • Unlock appropriate doors at scheduled times.
  • Provide emergency first aid in appropriate situations including evacuations.
  • Operate portable radio, electric cart to casino cage, service weapon, security cart in parking lot and van service.
  • Administer the rotation of officers to different posts on the property.
  • Perform and/or assign most of the escort service that occurs within the casino.
  • Relieve timekeeping staff as needed.
  • Perform all other work-related duties as assigned by the administrator.
  • Perform functions of Training Officer for new Officers.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
