About The Position

The Sector Analyst internship is a 10-week program based in Point72’s New York office. The intern will provide industry context and business fundamentals to data scientists and engineers and support the team that delivers tailored, synthesized insights to investment professionals. The role involves developing deep sector expertise, examining global industry trends, business models, and supply chains, and distilling clear takeaways from complex qualitative and quantitative information, including alternative data. The intern will work in an experiment-driven research environment with shifting priorities and close collaboration across investment, research, and compliance teams. The intern will gain exposure to developing subject-matter expertise in an assigned sector and understanding the themes and KPIs that drive its industries and companies; how data researchers support investment professionals and inform investment decisions; composing research reports and synthesizing findings; and collaborating with other proprietary research teams to source and extract value from new and existing data assets. The broader summer program includes mentorship, intern programming and events, sessions with senior leaders, access to employee tools and resources, exposure to firm functions, development of technical, writing, and presentation skills, and networking opportunities across the firm. Point72 is a global alternative investment firm that uses fundamental and systematic investing strategies across asset classes and geographies.
