About The Position

Under general supervision, the Research & Development intern provides support for departmental functions and initiatives. The intern works alongside technologists on projects involving new product launches and revisions to existing items. Much of the work is hands-on in the pilot plant, including mix testing, operating ice cream production and freezing equipment, and organizing samples. The intern also works on recipe, specification, and mix formula development alongside a product development technologist, learning the product development process from start to finish.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in an applicable degree program with coursework corresponding to the internship.
• Have strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, ability to multitask, excellent communication skills, and effective presentation skills.
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and interact and collaborate professionally with a variety of individuals.

Nice To Haves

• Preferably entering the junior or senior year of a four-year degree program.
• Preferably have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Applicable experience in technical fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational and administrative functions related to the intern’s academic major.
• Independently work on special projects assigned by the functional leader.
• Assist in implementing functional strategies and contribute to team goals and objectives.
• Support departmental deliverables and proactively plan and support tasks.
• Work with technologists on new product launches and revisions to existing items.
• Conduct hands-on pilot plant work, including mix testing, operating ice cream production and freezing equipment, and organizing samples.
• Work on recipe, specification, and mix formula development alongside a product development technologist.
