About The Position

An exciting opportunity is available for Section Head, Pipe Based in Jubail and will report directly to GM, Application & Technical Support. Job Summary: Responsible for the planning and oversight of Research and Development tasks and related activities and the day-to-day management of identified staff and resources in the field of plastic pipe (mainly HDPE pipe) and it’s processes/material.

Requirements

  • Bachelors/Master/PhD Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Material/Polymer Science or a relevant discipline.
  • 8-10 years’ experience with Degree or 6-8 years’ experience with Masters or 4-6 years’ experience with PhD

Responsibilities

  • Brings thought leadership in plastic pipe (mainly HDPE Pipe) and it’s material/processes to guide the planning, development, coordination, and directing of projects of major scope and importance.
  • Leads team by providing guidance to complex problems related plastic pipe developmental technologies that impact current products and processes and/or address development issues for future products or technologies from development to manufacturing.
  • Serves as the technical lead for the plastic pipe in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned area of responsibility.
  • Gains early insights to advanced technological developments and research by liaising and managing relationships with value-adding partnership with external parties (R&D centers, think tanks, universities, etc.)
  • Gains recognition as an internal or external subject matter expert in the field of plastic pipe by demonstrating unique ability to innovate, bring unique features and/or characteristics to products and/or processes; and troubleshoot complex problems and serves as an advisor to other scientists in the field.
  • Develops, promote, and implement complex and/or significant technology changes in the field of plastic pipe to the team.
  • Plays a significant role in the preparation of reports, papers, presentations, new proposals.
  • Presents papers at technical meetings.
  • Participates in the recruitment, training, coaching and performance management of designated employees.
  • Ensures delivery of planned tasks and activities, taking decisions on problems and methodology and resourcing issues.
  • Ensures compliance to company and regulatory policies and procedures.
