About The Position

This is a part-time student position for a Secretary in Culinary & Retail Administration, requiring 19 hours per week. The role involves performing standard secretarial and minor clerical duties, typing letters, memorandums, and reports, and using word processing equipment and/or PCs. The secretary will answer telephones, take and relay messages, and greet and screen visitors. The position is suitable for students with foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores. The role also requires adherence to the university Honor Code, including Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations. Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks. All new hires must complete the Form I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S.

Requirements

  • Must be able to type 35 wpm net.
  • Must know how to use a personal computer and be familiar with most of the following software programs: WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Top Down, Quark Express, Printshop, Harvard Graphics, and Laser Award Maker.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English.
  • Should be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
  • Must exemplify the university Honor Code, including the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
  • Must attach current resume and Current semester schedule (weekly view).

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with programming/software development preferred.
  • Preffered Computer Science/IT Major.
  • Students may only have 5 open job applications at a time.
  • Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks.
