About The Position

The General Counsel’s Office (GCO) in the New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a General Counsel’s Office Secretary. In this position, the Office Secretary is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to the unit. The role requires performing secretarial and administrative tasks, as well as completing clerical assignments to support the operations of the GCO. Duties include entering data into internal databases, case management tracking systems, proprietary Case Management database, and the online Freedom of Information Law portal. The secretary will also create hard copy files, maintain the filing system, manage email inquiries, handle incoming mail, and perform copying and scanning. Additionally, the role involves answering the main line for the GCO, assisting callers, interacting with DANY staff, external agencies, and community members, and greeting/directing visitors. Maintaining and updating shared calendars for the GCO is also a key responsibility. All assignments must be performed accurately, professionally, and expeditiously.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in an administrative support role (Level 1).
  • Three (3) years’ work experience in an administrative support role (Level 2).
  • Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for years of experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform secretarial and administrative tasks, as well as complete clerical assignments to support the operations of the GCO.
