About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in the Department of Secondary Education, K-12 & Technology. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions. The number of positions varies by semester based on program needs. Screening occurs when positions become available, and not all applicants will be contacted or selected. Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver), established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students, many of whom are underrepresented in higher education. It is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (gHSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado. The Department of Secondary, K-12, Educational Technology focuses on preparing teachers, curriculum developers, and instructional designers. The department is seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, innovation, passion, experience, and a desire for continued growth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Sensitivity to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
  • Ability to teach in person/on campus upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • ABD or completed Doctorate
  • Middle and/or high school teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach 1-9 credit hours per semester.
  • Be available for consultation with students.
  • Teach classes in Secondary Education sequence, including foundations of educational psychology and philosophy, multicultural education, classroom management, planning and assessment.
  • Supervise field experiences (potential opportunity).
  • Deliver course content to students in assigned classes, either in person or online.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department course coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
