About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in K-12 Physical Education. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver), established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students and is a model university for today’s college students. It is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (gHSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado, serving the most diverse undergraduate student population in the state. The Department of Secondary, K-12, Educational Technology focuses on preparing classroom teachers, curriculum developers, and instructional designers with passionate, experienced educators. This position is for potential future needs for part-time affiliate instructors of K-12 Physical Education, requiring a strong work ethic, innovation, passion, experience, and a desire for continued growth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • ABD or completed Doctorate
  • Elementary and/or secondary school physical education teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Teach 1-9 credit hours and be available for consultation with students.
  • Teach classes in Elementary and Secondary Physical Education sequence, including assessment, instructional methods, classroom management, and team and individual sport classes.
  • Supervise field experiences.
  • Deliver course content to students in assigned classes, either in person or online.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide online or in-person academic support to students as needed.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department course coordination policies.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
  • Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
