About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in the Department of Elementary Education and Literacy. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. The number of positions available will depend on budget and enrollment. Not all applicants in the pool will be contacted or selected to teach. The department is committed to care, social justice, intellectual engagement, professional uplift, joy, and critical reflection. They offer Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts programs focused on preparing educators for diverse settings through research-informed instruction, trauma-informed practices, and equity-based pedagogy.

Requirements

Master’s degree for applicants interested in undergraduate programs or doctorate for teaching within graduate programs, with degrees in Literacy or related field.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching literacy in the K-6 setting.

Responsibilities

Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
Grading student work.
Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
