About The Position

Stew Leonard’s Wines of Farmingdale is a customer-driven wine retailer focused on quality wines at great prices, world-class customer service, and a pleasant shopping experience. The Seasonal Wine Shop Cashier scans and bags purchases, processes customer payments, keeps checkout lines moving, and assists customers with questions or concerns. The role also includes verifying identification for alcohol purchases, maintaining the register and store areas, and helping create a welcoming and memorable shopping experience.

The ideal team member brings enthusiasm for wine and spirits, an interest in the products sold, and a willingness to help wherever needed in the store. Cashiers are expected to contribute to a clean, safe, and smoothly operated store, represent the company’s S.T.E.W. values, and develop basic wine and spirits knowledge. The advertised estimated pay range is $18–$18.50, depending on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately operate the cash register, including scanning and bagging products.
• Take customer payments and keep checkout lines moving efficiently.
• Count the money bag and remain responsible for its contents.
• Use the Vision computer system to look up products.
• Know the store’s exclusive and focus items.
• Check customer identification to ensure the safe sale of alcoholic items.
• Assist customers with questions or concerns and work toward creating happy customers.
• Collect customer email addresses.
• Keep the store clean and stock the register area.
• Use downtime effectively to stock and clean.
• Work toward developing basic wine and spirits knowledge.
• Greet customers warmly and help them feel welcome and appreciated.
• Collaborate with team members and offer assistance where needed.
• Follow all safety procedures.
• Create a memorable shopping experience and represent the store’s S.T.E.W. values positively in interactions with customers and team members.
