About The Position

This job announcement is for collecting candidate applications for current and future Seasonal Streets Operations Worker. Applicants will be contacted only when a position need is identified and their qualifications match the position's needs. This is classified as a Seasonal position where the selected candidates' length of employment will not exceed six (6) consecutive months and can work up to 40 hours a week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act. The hiring range for this role is $21.20 - $26.50/hour. Salary to be commensurate with experience. The seasonal Streets Operations Worker performs unskilled or semi-skilled manual tasks and operates automotive and grounds or maintenance equipment to maintain, construct and repair city streets and projects for the Public Works Department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months of related manual labor, and/or equipment operation, and/or trades experience.
  • Colorado CDL, a proficiency Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver’s License pre/post trip inspection will be conducted to include drive demonstration with our trucks when hired.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, outside and in all weather conditions.
  • Understand oral and written instructions.
  • Operate various types of maintenance and construction equipment.
  • Ability to respond to an emergency call within 30 minutes.
  • Supportive team player with a positive attitude and ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Colorado Class A or B CDL Driver’s License
  • Must obtain ATSSA Colorado Flagger Certification within one (1) month of employment.
  • Must obtain RTD On-Track Safety Training Certification within one (1) month of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in public works functions to include power tools and/or light equipment operation.

Responsibilities

  • Shovels and tamps asphalt to include pothole repair in a moving work zone.
  • Loads and unloads tools.
  • Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of streets.
  • Operates and maintains specialized hand and power tools, vehicles, and equipment such as jack hammer, plate and jumping compactors, single axle dump trucks with plow and sander, spot patch/pothole truck.
  • Performs snow and ice control operations to include working with operators from other departments.
  • Assists with large roadside trash pickup.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
