About The Position

Seasonal Streets Maintenance Worker – Temporary performs manual labor in the maintenance of county roads. Maintenance duties vary by district and may include shoveling, raking, and sweeping asphalt. Perform traffic control duties such as flagging and sign placement, culvert maintenance, and snow plowing. Operate light and medium equipment. Position requires availability to respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by reporting to an assigned shop within one hour of being called. COMPENSATION : Hiring Range: $ 24.74-$2 9.69 USD Hourly Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Must be at least 18 years old by hire date.
Valid Driver’s License for 2 consecutive years prior to hire date. If from out of state, must obtain a Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
Must obtain Flagger Certification within 3 months of hire.
Respond to emergencies and snow removal operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and report to an assigned shop within one hour of being called.
Offer of employment is contingent on passing a criminal history, MVR check, drug screen and physical exam.
To be considered, you must not have any major violations, nor DUI, DWI , DWAI in the past three years.
Must provide a valid Driver's License and current copy of your full Motor Vehicle Record at the time of the interview.
If you currently hold a CDL, you must provide your CDL, DOT medical card, and current copy of your full CDLIS motor record at the time of interview.
Jefferson County adheres to pre- and post-employment drug testing regulations for positions requiring a CDL .
In following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Jefferson County is required to contact previous employers to obtain information on past alcohol and drug testing.
Due to CDL guidelines, we review work experience within the last ten years. Please make sure that you document your past and current job-related experience.

Responsibilities

Assist in performing road maintenance operations, including repaving roads, filling potholes, applying crack-seal, repairing concrete, street sweeping, maintaining gutters and drainage, gravel road maintenance, and snow removal from county-maintained roadways.
Perform snow removal operations utilizing light and heavy equipment.
Operate equipment and tools as necessary, such as mower, chain saw, and hand tools.
Perform equipment and vehicle pre/post-trip inspections as defined by federal guidelines and inspect other items affecting safe operations.
Assist with inspecting and preparing all equipment for safe use by performing routine maintenance.
Prepare equipment for specific uses by making necessary modifications.
Plan and request maintenance service and repair for specific equipment.
Perform other general maintenance duties, routine cleaning, lubricating and minor maintenance, as necessary.
