About The Position

Performs daily maintenance tasks that assist the Street Department personnel with the maintenance of streets, drainage systems, and vegetation control, including operating small equipment as necessary.

Requirements

• Valid Texas driver's license required.
• Must be at least 17 years of age to be considered to handle small equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate larger equipment or operate a motor vehicle for City of Brenham business.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity.
• Ability to work with tools and equipment.
• Ability to drive vehicles or equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to perform work involving the entire body.
• Ability to stand, walk, and balance on all types of surfaces.
• Ability to bend from the waist, crouch or squat, kneel, sit, crawl, climb, twist, and reach with arms and hands.
• Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to carry, push, and pull materials.
• Ability to see clearly, with or without vision correction, in close situations, at a distance, and peripherally, and be able to adjust focus.
• Ability to exercise caution at all times and adhere to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs general labor as assigned in the maintenance of streets, drainage systems and vegetation management.
• Operates small equipment such as weed-eaters, crack sealer and other equipment used in the maintenance of streets, drainage facilities and vegetation management.
• Performs work with manual tools to paint curbs, medians, and other areas in need of routine maintenance.
• Assists with general roadway maintenance when needed.
