About The Position
As a Seasonal Retail Selling Colleague at Macy’s, you combine results-driven selling with genuine hospitality to create memorable holiday shopping experiences. You learn about customers’ needs, offer personalized recommendations, and connect them with suitable products and services on the sales floor and in the fitting room. You build customer trust and loyalty, achieve sales goals, and contribute to a welcoming, clean, organized, and shoppable store environment. Seasonal colleagues are typically scheduled for 10–20 hours per week, depending on business needs and colleague availability.
Requirements
- Flexible availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English.
- Enjoy meeting people, learning about them, and sharing information.
- Resourcefulness and adaptability to changing priorities; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to use electronic devices.
- Ability to talk, lift, move constantly, stand, and reach with arms and hands.
- Ability to stand for at least two consecutive hours; lift at least 25 pounds; stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach, including above eye level.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Frequent use of computers and other technology, including handheld equipment and cash registers.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers, engage them in personal conversations, understand their needs, and recommend relevant products and services.
- Work toward daily sales goals through customer engagement and effective selling behaviors.
- Share product knowledge, new arrivals, top-selling items, trends, and promotions with customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable sales floor; merchandise new receipts and support merchandise moves.
- Process damages, testers, and selected merchandise for return to vendors.
- Update signs and pricing as needed.
- Share loyalty program benefits, ensure customers have what they need, thank them sincerely, and assist with their packages.
- Collaborate with teammates and contribute to individual and store results.
- Review sales goals and stay informed about products and promotions.
- Use handheld equipment, computers, and cash registers to perform job functions and process transactions.
