About The Position

Under direction, this role involves leading or assisting in a wide variety of recreation activities at a community center, playground, ice rink, tennis court, or other recreation facility. The primary focus for this position is the Fall/Winter after school program with youth. Approximate hours are 25-30 per week, with employment duration from September to December. Applications are accepted until a sufficient number of qualified applicants are received, with interviews beginning the week of July 27th and continuing until all positions are filled.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license or equivalent mobility required.
• Candidates are required to possess a Mandatory Reporter Certification or have the ability to obtain required certification within one month of employment.
• Requires satisfactory background check.

Nice To Haves

• Possession of First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans and leads a wide variety of recreation activities such as day camps, youth programs summer playground programs, arts and crafts, sports, games and special events supervising participants in these activities.
• Maintains discipline and observes necessary precautions to ensure safety of activity and program participants.
• Warns community center patrons against hazardous practices and instructs them on facility rules.
• Issues and monitors use of recreation supplies and equipment.
• Maintains attendance and activity records and creates and updates regular reports.
• Collects admission and class registration fees and writes receipts.
• May drive a vehicle for transportation of program/activity participants and performs related work as required.
