About The Position

Under direction of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, manages an individual recreation camp program and site location. This is a seasonal position through December, with approximately 40 hours per week. Work hours vary based on assignment and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Two years’ experience working in education, recreation, or related field.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license or equivalent mobility required.
  • Ability to obtain required certifications within one month of employment (First Aid/CPR/AED, Mandatory Reporter Certification).
  • Satisfactory driving record and background check.

  • Possess a valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications.
  • Possess a Mandatory Reporter Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares work schedules for seasonal recreation specialists, recreation leaders, and other assigned personnel and supervises their activities.
  • Schedules, plans, and facilitates weekly staff training throughout the season.
  • Monitors participants and enforces rules governing the conduct of participants at the site.
  • Maintains safety of program and participants.
  • Plans and leads weekly and daily activities for program participants including, but not limited to, indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities such as arts, crafts, sports, games, camping, and hobbies.
  • Sets up and maintains materials and equipment.
  • Plans, communicates, and executes transportation of program participants for field trips.
  • Serves as on-site contact between participants, parents/guardians, and program partners.
  • Resolves disputes between participants and addresses behavioral issues.
  • Maintains all areas of the site, confirming space is safe, clean, and operational.
  • Keeps accurate schedules, incident logs, timesheets, and any other related documentation.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
