This position maintains the condition of the County’s parks and recreation areas to provide a clean and safe environment for workers and the public. The role involves performing manual labor tasks in the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure within the park system, including light plumbing, light electrical, and routine interior/exterior maintenance. Responsibilities include maintaining walking trails, managing invasive vegetation, ensuring plants and trees are healthy, pruning, removing hazardous trees, planting new trees and grass, and performing landscape maintenance such as mowing, edging, mulching, weeding, watering, and fertilizing. The position also ensures park restrooms, picnic shelters, and recreation areas are clean and in working order, and maintains the overall appearance of parks by removing litter, graffiti, trash, and debris. The role requires operating various maintenance equipment and power tools, performing preventive maintenance on equipment, and maintaining accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment repair history. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to all County safety regulations and proper use of equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The position may involve on-call duties, emergency response, and providing backup assistance to other department personnel.
