About The Position

Reporting directly to the Parks Supervisor, this role is responsible for providing an overall level of maintenance to the Parks system in the Town of Caledon. As Parks Maintenance, you will perform duties including but not limited to overseeing and carrying out park maintenance operations throughout parks, facilities and streetscape environments including cutting grass, shrub bed maintenance, grooming ball diamonds, ensuring cleanliness of Town buildings, waste management and removing litter. You will also operate small equipment including light trucks, tractors, mowers, tree chipper, chainsaws, maintain equipment used for parks/tree maintenance including preventative maintenance, implement traffic control plans in accordance with Book 7 when required, and perform sidewalk snow removal duties during winter months. Additionally, you will lead the work of TFTs and students as directed by the Supervisor, Parks.

Requirements

  • Completion of a grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Valid Restricted Class ‘A’ driver’s licence, with no more than 3 or more demerit points.
  • Daily access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends, as required.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check.
  • Proof of qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary diploma in a closely related field.
  • Experience in landscape/park maintenance environment.
  • Experience in operation and light servicing of vehicles (light trucks, chippers, chainsaws) and equipment.
  • Experience in sidewalk snow plowing for winter operations.

Benefits
