About The Position

These are seasonal laborer positions needed by the Parks Maintenance Division of the Provo City Parks and Recreation Department. The role involves cleaning and maintaining city parks, grounds, and trails, including litter removal, landscaping, and equipment operation. This is a part-time, seasonal position expected to last from March to November.

Requirements

• Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work.
• Physical strength and agility to perform the work.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
• Knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.
• Valid, lawful driver license may be required at time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

• Hiring preference will be given to individuals 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain Provo City parks and grounds, Center Street, or trail maintenance.
• Pick up debris and litter.
• Empty various containers into trucks and receptacles.
• Load, dump, and pack landscaping materials.
• Operate trucks and empty truck loads as directed.
• Maintain and clean restrooms.
• Use hand and power tools.
• Pull weeds, lay sod, plant flowers, and prune trees and shrubs.
• Perform major landscaping duties, such as operating ride-on and walk-behind lawn mowers, string trimmers, edger's, sod cutters, aerators, fertilizer spreaders, tractors, and other equipment related to park and grounds maintenance.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Assist with irrigation repair and maintenance.
• Assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform other related duties as required.
