The PARKS department is currently offering internships for highly motivated students interested in the Parks, Recreation, and Leisure field. This internship opportunity will give applicants a chance to work with in all the units of the department, which includes; Recreation, Athletics, Arts, Operations, Tennis, Aquatics, Special Events, Natural Resources, Marketing, and more! The Internship Program Objective are to provide the student with the opportunity to: Gain the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their future careers. Gain practical experience in parks and recreation services. Gain an understanding of the roles, duties, and responsibilities of a full-time profession. To integrate theory and practice. To broaden their understanding of the leisure services profession. Enable the student to realize their own strengths and limitations. Gain experience in leadership, supervisory and administrative functions with a park, recreation, or leisure services organization. Gain an understanding and appreciation of the role, duties, and responsibilities of a full-time leisure services professional. Develop the student’s skills in various program areas; to increase their knowledge of the organization and administration of delivery in parks, recreation, and leisure services. Enable them to develop and improve interpersonal and human relations skills. This position is required to work some nights and weekends.
