About The Position

Under the general supervision of a supervisor in Street Operations, Waste Management or Moving Services, this position performs labour tasks of a general nature involving physical effort. This position may operate specialized equipment on a continuous basis and performs other maintenance activities as necessary. The Seasonal Labourer 2 reports to the Municipal Manager and receives daily work assignments and directions from the Sub-Head, Head (Waste Management, Street Operations or Moving Services). Responsibilities are performed independently or within a team. This is a summer position, a 4-month term from May to August. Requirements

• Secondary school education and/or completion of high school, valid BC driver’s license or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own

Responsibilities

• Assists in hard landscape and other general labour duties using specialized equipment and physical effort to perform maintenance and construction activities.
• Will be required to work in all weather conditions.
• Operates light, medium and heavy vehicles and specialized tools and equipment (including, but not limited to, power washers, backpack blowers, jack hammers, tampers, concrete vibrators, concrete/asphalt coring and cutting equipment, sandblasting equipment, pallet jacks, and any other special equipment.
• Requests and receives tools, equipment and material for the work assigned.
• Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
