Seasonal Parks Labourer
About The Position
The Seasonal Parks Labourer is responsible for routine maintenance and care of outdoor open spaces within the Town of Devon, with a primary focus on preparing and maintaining the Paragon Ballpark throughout the season. This role ensures that ball diamonds, grounds, and related amenities are safe, functional, and well-presented for players, spectators, and visitors. The position includes ball diamond grooming, mowing, inspections, repairs, horticulture support, and assisting with community events as needed. Seasonal Labourers are trained to operate a range of tools and equipment to complete their duties safely and effectively.
Requirements
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable using both manual and power tools and learning new equipment
- Strong attention to detail, especially related to field safety and playability standards
- Ability to follow direction, work independently, and collaborate with the Parks team
- Basic mechanical understanding for equipment checks and troubleshooting
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, with the ability to drive Town vehicles as required
Nice To Haves
- Experience in parks maintenance, groundskeeping, sport field preparation, or outdoor labour considered an asset
- WHMIS knowledge is an asset
