About The Position

This role involves leading and/or performing in Character-themed shows, requiring basic script adherence and improvisation. The performer must be confident, engaging audiences, and potentially perform dance routines and singing while in character costume. Responsibilities include encouraging guest participation in activities, fostering a fun atmosphere, providing information about facilities and activities, serving as a host for events, and explaining safety rules. The role also requires preparing for shows, maintaining equipment, and accurately portraying character styles, mannerisms, and characteristics. A key aspect is performing in bulky, hot costumes for extended periods while meeting size and weight requirements. The position involves working with groups and children, standing for long durations, and adhering to all company and safety policies. This includes maintaining professional appearance, protecting company assets, reporting incidents, and providing excellent guest service. The role requires clear communication, accurate documentation, and maintaining positive working relationships. Physical demands include inspecting equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, moving in confined or elevated spaces, navigating various surfaces, reaching, bending, and working in diverse environmental conditions (loud noises, crowds, dark spaces, extreme temperatures). The performer must also have manual dexterity, be able to identify colors, and wear props for extended periods. Finally, the role requires maintaining size and weight requirements based on costume dimensions.

Requirements

  • Must be a confident performer, who is capable of performing in front of, and engaging audiences in live-show activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in previous roles performing the following: accurately and consistently portray the pre-determined style, characteristics and mannerisms of each role without any deviation; perform inside bulky, hot costumes for long periods of time; maintain size and weight requirements based on costume’s pre-determined size; work with large quantities of groups and children; stand for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-year customer or sales experience.
  • Previous public performance, acting, and entertainment experience; experience entertaining children and large groups of people.
  • No supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or perform in Character themed shows following basic scripts and using improvisation.

  • Encourage, recruit, register, and schedule guests to participate in various activities.
  • Promote a fun, energized and comfortable atmosphere for guests.
  • Provide information to guests about available recreation facilities and activities, including providing tours.
  • Serve as Host for live events and activities.
  • Explain and promote the rules and regulations of the facility intended for the safety and welfare of guests.
  • Observe activity in the facility and respond appropriately in accordance with local operating procedure in the event of an emergency.
  • Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
  • Prepare for show and clean and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Accurately and consistently portray the pre-determined style, characteristics and mannerisms of each role without any deviation.

  • Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
  • Prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; read and visually verify information in a variety of formats.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of employees.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects).
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces.
  • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, wet and/or humid conditions as well as extreme heat/cold (non-environmental).
  • Work near loud noises, around and in large crowds, and in tight and dark spaces, including in a large costume.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity.
  • Wear and carry special events props and gear for long periods of time.
  • Identify and distinguish colors.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
