Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a valid United States Driver’s License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Appointee must establish residency in the state of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during incumbency.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Field Maps.
  • Experience with invasive species control.
  • Experience with natural resource inventories.
  • Experience with wildlife habitat management.
  • Experience with community engagement related to ecological restoration.

Responsibilities

  • Habitat Improvement projects that include but are not limited to cutting of woody material and herbicide applications.
  • Nest box monitoring, migratory and breeding bird surveys, odonate surveys, and bumble bee surveys.
  • Field surveys using ArcGIS Field Maps to inventory rare plant populations, invasive species, tree inventories, and vegetative community types.
  • Assist with reforestation, native seed collection, and pollinator garden projects.
  • Participate in Park People Weed-Out workday efforts in spring and fall. This may require working on select weekends.
  • Assists with community-based education events and citizen-based natural areas restoration projects.
  • Assist with maintaining the Natural Areas equipment cache and make sure it is functional and in good repair.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
