The company is looking for a talented Field Technician to join their Downtown, Los Angeles team. The Field Technician (Tech) will assist with the maintenance of stations and bikes, performing routine station and bike maintenance, cleaning, balancing of bikes, and station installations. Field Techs will work under the guidance of their direct supervisor to ensure all stations and bicycles are maintained and cleaned according to schedule. They will respond to system balancing needs proactively and reactively, and work directly with Station Technicians, Mechanics, Customer Service, and Dispatch teams to perform minor station and bicycle repairs in the field. Field Techs are expected to be courteous drivers who understand the importance of safe driving.

Requirements

  • Valid driver license and clean driving record that passes insurance requirements for the company.
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent mechanical skills, and some experience in bicycle maintenance and/or willingness to learn.
  • Must be a team player with a positive and friendly attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management’s direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.
  • Excitement and interest in bike sharing.
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to understand and learn technical aspects of the software and the hardware capabilities and needs of a bike share system.
  • An eye for safety in everyday tasks.
  • Sense of humor!

Responsibilities

  • Maintain stations (troubleshooting, some replacing of parts, swapping batteries, cleaning) in accordance with company policy and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Drive Ford Transit or equivalent extended wheelbase to complete daily tasks.
  • Distribute bikes throughout the system to ensure bike stations are appropriately stocked through guidance from Dispatch.
  • Collect bicycles requiring in shop work.
  • Inspect and ensure bike stations are safe, clean, and operating properly.
  • Interact with bike share passholders to promote bike share to the general public and assist the Marketing team at events and in the field.
  • Receive and follow daily task directions provided by Dispatch team.
  • Perform regular in-field monthly safety checks on bicycles and in-shop bicycle maintenance.
  • Assist with bike and bike station deployment and redeployment.
  • Maintain frequent and clear communication between Dispatchers, Station Techs, and direct supervisor.
  • Work with other team members under the guidance of Dispatch, and/or Lead Field Tech, Operations Manager.
  • Execute all required balancing and station maintenance and cleaning in a timely manner in order to meet our SLA and safety goals.
  • Open and close warehouse, as assigned.
  • Graffiti and sticker cleanup at stations.
  • Ride E-cargo bikes routinely to complete daily tasks.
  • Communicate with Dispatch to give updates on conditions at stations and in coverage area. Respond to Dispatch in accordance with company’s communication policy.
  • Assist with installation and removal of bike sharing stations.
  • Assist with asset recovery.
  • Communicate with Fleet and Facilities Coordinator, direct supervisor and/or Operations Manager about van mechanical and safety issues.
  • Complete service records for all work performed in accordance with company SOP’s.
  • Communicate with other staff and supervisors to affect improvements.
  • Give and receive feedback to other team members.
  • Provide assistance within warehouse bicycle repairs, builds, and refurbishments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Check Fiix for any assigned, pending, or late tasks.
  • Check in and communicate continuously with Dispatch on prioritization for balancing, station maintenance, and other assigned duties and tickets.
  • When out in the field, perform inspections of stations (ex: Check Dock, digitizer, CC reader, etc.).
  • Clean station and bicycles of graffiti, sticker, grime, and biohazards during each station visit.
  • Conduct E-bike and station battery swaps.
  • Perform field safety checks on bikes at stations.
  • Attend daily operations meeting, check emails, and respond to calendar invites.
  • Clean and organize facility.
  • Clean vehicles.
  • Test batteries.
  • Test “malfunctioning” hardware.
  • Power wash Stations.
  • Take inventory of all supplies.
  • Participate in weekly meetings.
  • Check all stations for any issues.
  • Overview of performance metrics, operational metrics with Lead Field Tech and/or Operations Manager.
  • Participate in group meetings.
  • Power wash stations.
  • Perform monthly bike inspections.
