About The Position

Provide leadership and supervision of facilities, activities and events at City of Oak Park Recreation functions. Supervise fields and participants by enforcing program and field rules, policies and regulations. Ensure fields remain in excellent condition before and through activities. Remain visible and available throughout competitions; resolve problems that may arise. Respond to participants and spectators in a calm, assertive manner; document and report relevant information to the recreation coordinator. Follow written and verbal instructions. Communicate and work effectively with coworkers, staff, diverse groups of people and the general public. Submit score sheets and standings to the recreation coordinator. Supervise umpire and referees. Distribute program related items to teams and parents. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Secure a substitute if unable to cover scheduled shift and notifies recreation coordinator of schedule substitutions prior to the change. May be asked to perform other duties related to the day-to-day operation of the department.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
  • Reasonable knowledge of computers and software applications and the ability to navigate through internet resources.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in problem resolution by looking up schedules and registrations.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
  • Able to complete a city application and pass an oral interview.
  • Must be physically able to perform work duties; including the ability to lift 50lbs.
