About The Position

The Seasonal Camp Director leads day camp operations at Camp Speers in the Poconos. The role involves supervising and supporting camp staff, coordinating field trips and daily programming, and ensuring activities are appropriate for campers of varying ages, abilities, and skill levels. The director helps maintain the safety and well-being of campers and staff and builds positive working relationships with colleagues, members, and parents. The position offers team support and training, opportunities to learn and grow, and the chance to contribute to a nonprofit organization serving the community.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Three or more years of experience working with children.
Two or more years of experience working in a day camp setting.
One or more years of experience in a supervisory setting.
Prior or current experience in education, athletic education, child psychology, sports management, or a related field.
Enjoy working with children and maintaining positive relationships with their parents in high-energy sports environments.
Proficiency in swimming and ability to obtain lifesaving certifications, including CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

Supervise, train, motivate, and evaluate camp staff.
Manage and organize camp field trips.
Develop the daily schedule and verify that electives, special programs, and daily events are followed appropriately.
Ensure programs meet the needs of campers of all ages, abilities, and skill levels, while maintaining the safety and well-being of staff and campers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with fellow directors, maintenance staff, tent and trailer staff, day camp staff, members, and parents.
Resolve scheduling, programming, parental, and staffing problems as they arise, consulting with a supervisor for assistance and input as needed.
