About The Position

Uniform Gear is seeking an energetic, part-time Seamstress for its Warrington location. Uniform Gear serves public service workers in the Warrington area, including police, fire, EMS, transportation, healthcare, maintenance, and security personnel. The alterations department performs patchwork, hemming, tapering, and other customizations to customers’ clothing. The position operates Monday through Friday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and requires on-site work.

Requirements

1–2 years of industrial sewing experience.
1–2 years of hemming experience.
Ability to read work orders and understand what needs to be completed.
Ability to complete work in a timely fashion.
Must work on-site.
Ability to stand or sit for an entire shift.
Ability to lift 30-pound boxes.
Ability to climb a small ladder, bend, reach, and squat.
Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal orders.
Ability to communicate efficiently in English.
Must be capable of taking only one meal period per day.
Must be able to work between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Responsibilities

Alter, repair, and fit garments.
Fit garments on customers to determine required alterations.
Sew garments using needles, thread, and sewing machines.
Measure garment parts, such as sleeves or pant legs, and mark or pin-fold alteration lines.
Take up or let down hems to shorten or lengthen garment parts.
Remove stitches from garments using rippers or razor blades.
Make garment style changes, such as tapering pant legs.
Read paperwork and work orders to determine required alterations.
Enter complete work notes into the computer for customer orders.
Estimate the time frame for alterations.
Sew name tapes, patches, badge tabs, name tabs, and other patchwork onto garments.
Communicate with customers.
Perform other duties as assigned; duties may be added or changed by the company.
