About The Position

The Screen Printer is responsible for the complete screen printing process, from setup and ink mixing to operating the printing press and ensuring final product quality. This role requires technical proficiency in manual and automatic screen printing equipment, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting production deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of experience operating manual and/or automatic screen printing equipment in a production environment.
  • Proven knowledge of screen printing techniques, including proper ink viscosity, squeegee angle, and pressure.
  • Ability to accurately register multi-color designs.
  • Familiarity with various ink types (plastisol, water-based, discharge) and substrates (cotton, polyester blends, etc.).
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires manual dexterity and the ability to distinguish colors accurately.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and align screens for printing based on work order specifications (including proper mesh count and emulsion application).
  • Mix ink colors according to design requirements and pantone specifications.
  • Register multi-color jobs accurately on the press.
  • Operate and maintain manual and automatic screen printing presses (e.g., MHM, Hopkins).
  • Load and unload products or substrates onto the press platen.
  • Perform test prints, inspect for defects, and make necessary adjustments to pressure, speed, and registration during the run.
  • Ensure proper curing of ink using flash units and/or conveyor dryers to achieve maximum wash fastness.
  • Monitor print quality throughout the production run to ensure consistency, correct color, and accurate placement.
  • Conduct final inspection of printed goods against the job ticket and sample.
  • Minimize material waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Clean screens, squeegees, and flood bars immediately after printing.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on printing equipment.
  • Keep the print shop and work area organized and clean.
  • Maintain an accurate count of printed goods.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding material shortages or equipment issues.
  • Adhere to all company safety guidelines.
