About The Position
Under general supervision, the Scorekeeper records scores, game time, fouls, and other game information for Jr. Jazz youth basketball. The position reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or Gym Supervisor. The posting establishes a hiring roster to fill seasonal vacancies from October 2026 to March 2027; applicants are asked to indicate their availability.
Requirements
- Must be at least 14 years of age.
- Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- General knowledge of basketball.
- Ability to maintain concentrated mental application.
- Must be a self-starter and work well with others.
- Must be able to work Saturdays.
Responsibilities
- Monitor basketball games to ensure accurate scoring and proper recording of game statistics.
- Operate the scoreboard and game clock as assigned.
- Record team scores, individual player points, fouls, timeouts, and other required game information.
- Communicate with referees, coaches, and other game officials to ensure accurate game records.
- Maintain focus and attention to detail throughout each game.
- Report equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Gym Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator.
- Complete score sheets, game records, and reports as needed.
- Provide professional, patient, and effective customer service to players, coaches, officials, and the public.
- Assist with setting up and taking down gyms for basketball games.
- Participate in all staff training and programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
