About The Position

Under general supervision, the Scorekeeper records scores, game time, fouls, and other game information for Jr. Jazz youth basketball. This temporary, seasonal position supports basketball games and reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or Gym Supervisor. The hiring roster will be used to fill seasonal vacancies from October 2026 to March 2027; applicants are asked to note their availability.

Requirements

Must be at least 14 years of age.
Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
General knowledge of basketball.
Ability to maintain concentrated mental application.
Must be a self-starter and work well with others.
Must be able to work Saturdays.

Responsibilities

Monitor basketball games to ensure accurate scoring and recording of game statistics.
Operate the scoreboard and game clock as assigned.
Record team scores, individual player points, fouls, timeouts, and other required game information.
Communicate with referees, coaches, and other game officials to ensure accurate game records.
Maintain focus and attention to detail throughout each game.
Report equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Gym Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator.
Complete score sheets, game records, and reports as needed.
Provide professional, patient, and effective customer service to players, coaches, officials, and the public.
Assist with setting up and taking down gyms for basketball games.
Participate in all staff training and programs.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
