About the position
The Scientist or Senior Scientist position at the Arc Institute in Palo Alto, CA, focuses on Molecular Technology Development, Genome Engineering, and Synthetic Biology. Responsibilities
- Work as part of a fully funded team to invent, develop, and benchmark molecular technologies.
- Collaborate closely with the PIs on planning and executing scientific research.
- Contribute to early-stage discovery and development of new genome, transcriptome, and epigenome engineering tools in mammalian cells.
- Contribute to the development of parts, sensors, and concepts for synthetic biology.
- Apply machine learning and protein language models to accelerate molecular technology parameters.
- Conduct research in the areas of Molecular Technology Development, Genome Engineering, and Synthetic Biology.
- Use DNA and RNA-targeting CRISPR systems, single-cell genomics, and high-throughput methods for protein engineering.
- Tackle big questions in neurodegeneration, synthetic biology, gene & cell therapy, and beyond.
- Collaborate with people of different backgrounds and brainstorm ideas on addressing scientific questions.
- Optimize research processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Scientist or Senior Scientist position
- Based at the Arc Institute in Palo Alto, CA
- Working in the areas of Molecular Technology Development, Genome Engineering, and Synthetic Biology
- Experience with DNA and RNA-targeting CRISPR systems, single-cell genomics, and high-throughput methods for protein engineering
- Familiarity with genome, transcriptome, and epigenome engineering tools in mammalian cells
- Knowledge of synthetic biology, including engineering cell states, controlling or tracing cellular communication, and developing therapeutic circuits
- Proficiency in machine learning and protein language models for molecular technology parameters
- Driven by science and purpose
