The University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is hiring a full-time Scientist for the Sylvester Myeloma Institute in Miami, Florida. This 100% research-based position has no clinical responsibilities or patient-care duties and is focused on precursor screening studies, hematologic malignancies, multiple myeloma, and its precursor disease. The successful candidate will help design and launch iStopMM–Miami, a collaborative screening and follow-up program inspired by Iceland’s iStopMM population-screening study. The program will investigate biological patterns distinguishing stable precursor disease from progression to multiple myeloma by integrating longitudinal clinical data and biospecimens with molecular, immune, imaging, and computational analyses. It will also include interventional studies to translate risk prediction into individualized prevention and early-treatment strategies. The Scientist will develop collaborative translational research and connect biological discoveries with precision-interception trials. Experience with the Icelandic iStopMM study or an equivalent program is particularly valuable. In the core role, the Scientist conducts complex experiments and investigations, supports the University’s research objectives, and contributes to the scientific community. The position is a one-year appointment, funded entirely by gifts, and reports to Dr. C. Ola Landgren, Chief of the Sylvester Myeloma Institute and Lead Principal Investigator for the planned iStopMM–Miami study.
