Scientist, Signal Processing

L3Harris TechnologiesPalm Bay, FL
Onsite

About The Position

This role will help define and mature signal- and mission-processing capabilities for evolving multi-mission payload architectures. The engineer will apply signal-processing expertise, including algorithm design, detection and estimation, sensor fusion, data association, geolocation and tracking, and on-orbit edge processing, to support development, integration, verification, and operational readiness. This is an on-site opportunity in Palm Bay, Florida supporting the Agile Missions portfolio.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or an equivalent technical discipline, and 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access, as required
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital signal processing and communications theory, including algorithm development and implementation in firmware or software.
  • Experience in systems engineering or a related engineering role supporting aerospace, space, or multi-mission payload architectures.
  • Depth in one or more of the following: array signal processing, including geolocation and direction finding; statistical signal processing, including detection and estimation theory; radar signal processing, including electronic protection and space-time or space-frequency adaptive processing; modern communications systems, including low-probability-of-intercept/low-probability-of-detection, anti-jam, anti-scintillation, wireless or cellular, or high-Doppler-rate communications; electronic warfare or electronic attack; or machine learning, neural networks, or artificial intelligence.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience designing or evaluating on-board or edge-processing solutions using field-programmable gate arrays/SDRs, systems on a chip, graphics processing units, artificial-intelligence accelerators, or multi-rate fixed-point digital signal-processing architectures.
  • Programming and modeling proficiency using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C, or C++.
  • Experience collaborating across systems, payload, firmware, software, integration, and test disciplines to transition algorithms to implementation.
  • Experience supporting multi-mission payload architectures and evolving mission-processing pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Define signal- and mission-processing architectures, functional flows, requirements, interfaces, and verification strategies for multi-mission payloads.
  • Analyze, design, and develop signal-processing algorithms for time-frequency analysis, detection, estimation, and optimization.
  • Develop multi-sensor fusion, data-association, target-geolocation, and tracking approaches for multi-mission architectures.
  • Build and use models and simulations to assess algorithm, payload, and mission-processing performance, including latency, resource use, and operational impact.
  • Collaborate with payload, field-programmable gate array, firmware, software, systems integration, and test teams to allocate requirements, resolve interfaces, and transition algorithms to programmable logic or embedded software.
  • Support integration, verification, validation, anomaly resolution, and technical-risk closure across the product lifecycle.
  • Produce technical analyses and supporting artifacts for internal and customer reviews; brief results, risks, and decisions to program stakeholders.
