Principal Signal Processing Researcher

STR•Arlington, VA
•$220,000 - $260,000

About The Position

The Optical & Novel Sensing Group within STR’s Sensors Division performs physics-driven research across multiple domains to advance sensor performance for warfighter and intelligence missions. Its work supports Department of War and Intelligence Community research and development programs, from concept formulation through validation prototyping. The Principal Algorithm & Signal Processing Researcher will develop and apply advanced algorithms and techniques for high-frequency (HF) communications, including signal detection, channel equalization, and geolocation. The role engages directly with customers to understand and address mission challenges, leads researchers in creating new system capabilities, and collaborates with engineering teams to develop, demonstrate, and optimize those capabilities. The researcher will apply first-principles physics to model and simulate realistic HF propagation environments and support system performance modeling. The position also involves leading multidisciplinary teams that design, analyze, integrate, and demonstrate signal-processing algorithms for complex systems, as well as supporting business development and proposal writing.
