About The Position

Raven StealthCo is a well-funded, stealth-mode biotechnology company developing next-generation oligonucleotide-based modalities to target tissues beyond the liver, muscle, and kidney. Its platform aims to deliver oligonucleotides to previously untargeted cells and address biologically and genetically supported targets that have historically resisted small-molecule and biologic approaches. The company is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was incubated by Raven, RA Capital’s company-building team, and is focused initially on creating therapies for multiple disease indications, with longer-term ambitions related to healthy aging. The company is in the discovery stage and is investing in an emerging oligonucleotide-delivery platform. The Scientist/Senior Scientist, Biology and Pharmacology will lead and execute in vitro and in vivo pharmacology across programs, with scientific ownership of assigned projects spanning in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo work. The role reports to the Director of Biology and Pharmacology. Work will include analysis of tissues from in vivo studies, cell-based assay development, and management of CRO-run in vivo studies, with priorities shifting as project needs evolve. The position requires rigorous scientific execution across a broad, fast-moving platform. The successful candidate will help shape experimental strategy and go/no-go decisions, generate decision-quality data, and influence how the company conducts pharmacology. As one of the company’s earliest hires, this person will also help build a culture characterized by psychological safety, respect, mentorship, collaboration, and learning. The role offers room to grow as the company advances.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in pharmacology, physiology, cell and molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • For Scientist level: B.S. or M.S. and 8 or more years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • For Senior Scientist level: Ph.D. and 5 or more years, or B.S./M.S. and 10 or more years, of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific leadership of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology projects in discovery and/or preclinical research and development, including study design and interpretation that informed project decisions.
  • Strong hands-on skills in tissue processing and analysis, including RNA and protein extraction, RT-qPCR, immunoassays, and histology/IHC/ISH.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture in cell lines and primary cell models, and with cell-based assays; a record of establishing new methods.
  • Track record managing CRO-executed in vivo studies, including vendor qualification, protocol alignment, budget and timeline management, and critical evaluation of external data.
  • Hands-on rodent experience, including dosing, in-life assessment, and terminal collection, sufficient to design realistic protocols and challenge a CRO.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize across concurrent studies, and exercise sound judgment about when to escalate.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical fluency, including study powering and appropriate analysis of in vivo data.
  • Clear scientific writing and communication skills for protocols, study reports, and data presentations to project teams and leadership.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a record of consistently delivering robust, decision-quality in vitro and in vivo data.
  • Mature, curious, committed, collaborative, trustworthy, and humble approach; ability to make decisive, data-driven calls and uphold exceptionally high standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-human-primate study experience.
  • Experience with oligonucleotide or other nucleic acid therapeutics, including tissue exposure, target modulation, or PK/PD.
  • Exposure to IND-enabling studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pharmacology for early-stage programs, from research planning and study design through data interpretation, and help shape experimental strategy and go/no-go decisions.
  • Design rigorous in vivo studies with thoughtful dosing, appropriate controls, and adequate statistical power.
  • Serve as the day-to-day sponsor contact for CRO-run in vivo studies and analytical vendors, overseeing qualification, scope, budget, timelines, pre-study alignment, in-life monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Build strong, productive relationships with CROs and analytical vendors while holding them to high standards.
  • Manage in vivo sample logistics end to end, including receipt, cataloging, storage, chain of custody, and shipment between CROs and analytical partners.
  • Process and analyze tissues from in vivo studies to generate target-engagement, pharmacodynamic, and efficacy readouts.
  • Provide sponsor-side oversight of data integrity, documentation, and animal welfare for external studies.
  • Maintain in vivo records, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and run biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays in cell lines and primary cell models across a range of tissue types, adapting established methods and creating new ones as needed.

Benefits

  • The role may be eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentives.
