About The Position

Raven StealthCo is a well-funded, stealth-mode biotechnology company developing next-generation oligonucleotide delivery modalities intended to reach tissues beyond the liver, muscle, and kidney. The company is in the discovery stage and is investing in a platform designed to deliver oligonucleotides precisely to previously untargeted cells, including to address targets that have historically resisted small-molecule and biologic approaches. Its programs are supported by biological and genetic evidence and predictive animal models with potential translational relevance to humans. The Scientist/Senior Scientist will lead and execute in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo pharmacology across assigned programs, carrying scientific ownership of project pharmacology. Reporting to the Director of Biology and Pharmacology, the role spans tissue analysis from in vivo studies, cell-based assay development, and oversight of CRO-run in vivo studies. The balance of these activities will shift with project needs. The successful candidate will help shape experimental strategy and go/no-go decisions, deliver rigorous and decision-quality data, and contribute to the company's pharmacology practices and culture as an early hire. The position offers influence over how pharmacology is conducted and room to grow as the company advances. The title will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Base salary is $110,000–$160,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentives; final compensation depends on factors including experience, skills, and location.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in pharmacology, physiology, cell and molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • For Scientist: B.S./M.S. with at least 8 years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • For Senior Scientist: Ph.D. with at least 5 years, or B.S./M.S. with at least 10 years, of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific leadership of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology projects in discovery and/or preclinical research and development, including study design and interpretation that informed project decisions.
  • Strong hands-on skills in tissue processing and analysis, including RNA and protein extraction, RT-qPCR, immunoassays, histology, IHC, and ISH.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture in cell lines and primary cell models, and cell-based assays, including a record of establishing new methods.
  • Track record managing CRO-executed in vivo studies, including vendor qualification, protocol alignment, budget and timeline management, and critical evaluation of external data.
  • Hands-on rodent experience, including dosing, in-life assessment, and terminal collection, sufficient to design realistic protocols and challenge a CRO.
  • Sound professional judgment, ability to work independently and prioritize concurrent studies, and awareness of when to escalate.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical fluency, including study powering and appropriate analysis of in vivo data.
  • Clear scientific writing and communication skills for protocols, study reports, and data presentations to project teams and leadership.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a record of consistently delivering robust, decision-quality in vitro and in vivo data.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, curious, and committed, with strong ownership, objective data analysis, and a willingness to raise problems early.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with oligonucleotide therapeutics, such as ASOs or siRNA.
  • Experience with oligonucleotide or other nucleic acid therapeutics, including tissue exposure, target modulation, and PK/PD.
  • Exposure to IND-enabling studies.
  • Non-human primate study experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pharmacology for early-stage programs, from research planning and study design through data interpretation, helping shape experimental strategy and go/no-go decisions.
  • Design rigorous in vivo studies that generate decision-quality data, including thoughtful dosing, appropriate controls, and adequate statistical power.
  • Serve as the day-to-day sponsor contact for CRO-run in vivo studies and analytical vendors, overseeing qualification, scope, budget, timelines, pre-study alignment, in-life monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage in vivo sample logistics, including receipt, cataloging, storage, chain of custody, and shipment between CROs and analytical partners.
  • Process and analyze tissue samples from in vivo studies to generate target engagement, pharmacodynamic, and efficacy readouts.
  • Provide sponsor-side oversight of data integrity, documentation, and animal welfare for external studies, and maintain in vivo records, protocols, and SOPs.
  • Develop and run biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays in cell lines and primary cell models across tissue types, adapting established methods and creating new ones as needed.
  • Compile, quality-check, and interpret in vitro and in vivo data; author study reports; share results with cross-functional teams; and contribute to publications, patents, and presentations.
