About The Position

We are seeking a Scientific Program Analyst/Subject Matter Expert to provide biomedical research expertise, including knowledge of related tools and technologies. The role will deliver scientific analysis, project management, stakeholder coordination, and program oversight in support of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) priorities in translational science. This is a full-time, on-site position in Rockville, MD.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics or related field plus at least TWO (2) years of biology related experience OR bachelor’s degree plus FIVE (5) years of specialized experience in lieu of master’s degree.
  • Knowledgeable with various aspects of the NIH grants and funding mechanisms such as preparing funding opportunity announcements, conducting portfolio and data analysis and similar activities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and Webex.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support existing projects and help develop, launch, and execute new project initiatives, including concept development, planning, implementation, and related activities.
  • Develop scientific and programmatic presentation materials, including tables, graphs, slides, abstracts, posters, handouts, spreadsheets, charts, and background documents for meetings, conferences, workshops, committees, and program updates.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate scientific meetings, conference calls, symposia, lectures, workshops, special projects, quarterly Principal Investigator meetings, and Office of Strategic Initiatives program meetings, including logistics, registration, participant coordination, announcements, agendas, materials, room reservations, and audiovisual support.
  • Draft funding plans and develop milestones, budgets, and milestone proposals for current, potential, and transitioning projects.
  • Provide project management support for large or complex projects by tracking milestones, task priorities, dependencies, deliverables, progress, risks, and next steps, and communicating expectations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organize and maintain project documentation, communications, repositories, searchable libraries, databases, listservs, spreadsheets, SharePoint sites, website content, minutes, reports, scientific papers, and other program resources; assist with document retrieval and distribution.
  • Track action items and tasks, provide deadline reminders, maintain relevant spreadsheets, and prepare or distribute meeting minutes using a standardized reporting template.
  • Draft, review, edit, proofread, revise, and assemble programmatic documents and background materials, including agendas, letters, participant lists, handouts, emails, thank-you letters, policies, reports, and other scientific or management materials.
  • Conduct literature, internet, web, database, grant, reference, and records searches using tools such as PubMed, Web of Science, bibliographic software, online sources, files, background materials, and precedent references to support program needs, reports, literature reviews, summaries, and Funding Opportunity Announcement tracking.
  • Review, analyze, summarize, interpret, and organize scientific, programmatic, grantee progress, grant, and portfolio information from multiple sources to support presentations, reports, data analysis, research portfolio reviews, scientific overlap assessments, future research planning, workload distribution, and program decision-making.
  • Prepare recurring, ad hoc, progress, project status, program management, budgetary, data analysis, scientific, and project reports that summarize findings, flag potential issues, and communicate program progress.
  • Identify reporting and database needs, develop new formats and databases for program management and budgetary data, and create spreadsheets that summarize research efforts by grant mechanism and scientific topic.
  • Assist with management and administrative analysis by evaluating procedures, policies, processes, and systems; identifying problems; assessing alternatives; and recommending solutions to improve research program operations and efficiency.
  • Support communications and information dissemination by coordinating with communications offices, maintaining current OSI website content, improving website usability, and developing social media plans to keep stakeholders and the research community informed.
  • Request information from principal investigators, program staff, and others, and respond to scientific and programmatic inquiries in consultation with the Federal Task Lead as needed.
  • Gather information to support project software documentation.
