About The Position

We are looking for a Scientific Program Analyst to support extramural research operations, policy development, scientific communications, and program improvement initiatives for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). This is a full-time position located in Rockville, MD.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of ONE (1) year of experience supporting scientific research programs, research administration, or extramural research operations.
  • Strong scientific and technical writing skills.
  • Experience developing SOPs, guidance documents, training materials, or operational documentation.
  • Knowledge of NIH grants, funding mechanisms, and extramural research processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining website content and online resources.
  • Experience preparing presentations, reports, and communication materials for leadership audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to organize, track, and manage multiple deliverables and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

  • Proficiency using SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Drupal or another web content management system.
  • Background supporting NIH, HHS, or other federal scientific research organizations.
  • Strong plain-language communication and editing skills.

  • Hands-on support for research operations, policy implementation, or scientific program administration.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and workflow analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain website content, Teams channels, and information databases, including SharePoint sites, for extramural operations.
  • Coordinate with extramural operations colleagues to plan and attend meetings and training sessions, maintain centralized resources that track key issues, action items, and extramural updates.
  • Prepare standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training materials for research operations.
  • Review extramural activities and workflows across internal and enterprise systems to identify issues and recommend improvements.
  • Read, interpret, analyze, and condense material from a variety of sources for presentation.
  • Support staff on existing projects and the development, launch, and execution of new project initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver formal presentations for division leadership and other interest groups.
  • Provide regular progress reports to sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Track and report all aspects of standard operating procedure development, monitor key deliverable dates, and keep all involved parties apprised of progress on integrated tasks and next steps.
  • Develop a plan to improve the outreach, education, and interaction strategies of the Branch.
  • Organize, develop, and maintain a repository of resources, including PowerPoint presentations, meeting minutes, reports, spreadsheets, and webpages related to extramural operations.
  • Work with the Office of Communications and Public Liaison to achieve communications goals.
