About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a 9th–12th grade Science Teacher at Northeast Ohio College Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will bring curriculum to life for students and foster a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. The school is a public charter school offering continuous EK–12 college-preparatory education, with campuses in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, adapts lessons to student needs, tracks student progress, uses research-based practices and approved curricula, manages classroom behavior, and supports school-wide expectations. The role also involves communicating with families and colleagues, incorporating technology into instruction, and participating in non-instructional activities as needed.

Requirements

Active, current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior and create a positive classroom learning environment.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
