About The Position
North Oak Academy, part of the National Heritage Academies network, is seeking a sixth-grade Science and Social Studies Teacher in Durham, North Carolina. The school uses a character-based approach to education to inspire students to excel academically, think creatively, and reach their full potential. Teachers help students apply critical-thinking skills to real-world problems and prepare them for future challenges. The teacher will foster an engaging, supportive classroom and use the school’s curriculum and resources to support student learning. The role includes analyzing student data to guide instruction, collaborating with colleagues and support staff, and participating in professional development and orientation activities. Requirements
- Hold a valid teacher license or meet alternative requirements.
Responsibilities

- Create, manage, and participate in professional development and orientation activities.
- Create an engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Use the school’s curriculum and curricular resources to support student academic success and respond to students’ needs.
- Analyze and use student data to inform teaching.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
