About The Position

The School Staff Nurse provides school health services to the student population served. The role provides clinical care, including routine care, care for students with special needs, and emergency first aid. The nurse maintains student health records, documents services rendered, participates in departmental and hospital educational efforts, and communicates with management, parents or guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel. Care must address students’ physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs regardless of age, while following applicable departmental, school, state, federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures, and guidelines. The position is part-time, onsite, and scheduled Monday through Friday during the school year.

Requirements

• At least one year of healthcare experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) or similar software.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required or to be obtained within five years of the date of hire.
• BLS certification.
• Registered Nurse licensure.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a school setting.
• Experience in pediatric nursing.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
• One to two years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide school health services as directed by the department and contracts.
• Provide clinical care, including routine care, care for students with special needs, and emergency first aid.
• Maintain appropriate student health records and document services rendered.
• Participate in educational efforts of the department and hospital.
• Communicate effectively with management, parents or guardians, school authorities, and allied personnel.
• Provide care addressing patients’ physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs regardless of age.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with departmental, school, state, federal, and Human Resource policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as required.
