About The Position

BASIS Phoenix South is seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Social Worker to join our team! As a School Social Worker, you'll work closely with school leadership, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to provide direct support to students while helping lead school-wide prevention and intervention efforts. This position is grant funded through the Arizona Department of Education School Safety Program. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
  • Arizona Department of Education School Social Worker (PreK-12) certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of school-based mental health practices, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and behavioral support strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and community partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in a school, clinical, or community setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling for students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
  • Conduct student assessments and develop intervention strategies that promote student well-being and academic success.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to coordinate student support services.
  • Connect students and families with behavioral health providers and community resources.
  • Respond to student crises and provide intervention, support, and follow-up services.
  • Serve as an active member of the School Safety Program Team (SSPT), helping strengthen school safety, prevention, and student wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in behavioral intervention planning and threat assessment processes when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in professional development, school safety training, and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
